On Saturday, July 19th, The Coronado Playhouse welcomes Throwback To Now, the acoustic rock ‘n soul duo consisting of Jack “Stretch” Norris and Chrissy Burns, to their beautiful facility at The Coronado Community Center. Tickets for this event are $15 and proceeds benefit the Coronado Playhouse, now celebrating their 62nd season of bringing entertainment to Coronado. The doors open at 7:30 PM and the show starts at 8:00 PM.

“It’s not so much a concert as it is a party with live music,” says Chrissy Burns, the vocal half of Throwback To Now. “We’re expecting to see friends of ours, friends of the Coronado Theatre, and friends of friends. We hope there will be a lot of meeting, greeting, mixing and mingling going on…not just a bunch of people watching us play.”

Performing at Humphrey's Throwback To Now has been performing around San Diego since July of last year when Chrissy, a well-known San Diego vocalist, was asked to perform a Kelly Clarkson song at an event. There was no backing track available for the song, so she turned to a long-time friend Stretch. “I had known all this time that Stretch was an amazing guitar player,” she added, “We’d just never had a reason to team up. We’ve been playing together ever since!”

They describe their music as stripped-down, re-tooled classics and current gems. They chose the name Throwback To Now because it describes their musical goal, which is to have the classic songs that they play sound current, and have the current tunes feel timeless.

“We wanted to present something different but distinctively entertaining and with Chrissy’s help there is something for everyone,” says Board president John Moore. “Chrissy brings energy and excitement to everything she does.”
