The Cast
George Blum (A. P. Reporter & Bill Parker) After a lengthy Īhiatus," George is proud to make his return to the stage at CPH & feels privileged to work with such a talented & dedicated director, stage manager, cast, & crew. When heās not engaged in his day job, George writes screenplays. He currently has a script under option with a producer. George would like to thank Becky for everything. Broadcaster Bill Parker would like to thank his two heroes-÷Walter Cronkite & Ted Baxter öfor his inspiration.
Maggie Bowers (Amelia Shotgraven) Maggie has appeared in Death of a Salesman, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Man Who Came to Dinner, Macbeth, & Gaslight, just to name a few. She danced at Wolftrap with Walt Disney productions in Northern Virginia before moving to California. This is Maggieās debut at the Playhouse.
John L. Bridges (Warren Gillie) This is Johnās 14th production at the Coronado Playhouse. His most recent stage work included Odd Couple, Catch Me If You Can, & Alone Together. In addition, he has worked as stage & lighting technician for numerous productions. John is a financial and budget manager for a collection of community health centers.
Bob Christiansen (Alfred Metcalfe) This is Bobās second show at CPH, appearing four years ago as Father Kelleher in Catch Me If You Can. Bob is a member of the Board of Directors at OnStage Playhouse in Chula Vista where he recently appeared in The Murder Room with Jeanne Danis. Bob has appeared in several musicals, including three productions of The Music Man. A former CEO of a small software company, he now works on North Island developing web-based data management systems for the Navy.
Jeanne Danis (Laura Partridge) Jeanne Danis, long time area resident, has been entertaining theatre audiences at the Coronado Playhouse for more than forty years. Some of her major roles include Veta Louise in Harvey, Penny in You Can't Take it With You, Mrs. Feeley in Suds in Your Eye, Sophie in Social Security , and most recently, Abby in Arsenic and Old Lace for which she was named Best Actress in a leading role for 1999 by Associated Community Theatres of San Diego County. Other ACT awards include Best Actress in a Supporting Role for three separate years: 1989 (Harriet Olive Smythe in Move Over, Mrs. Markham), 1997 (Sophie in Social Security), & 1998 (Mrs. McGee in Corpse). She has also performed at the Old Globe, Lamplighters, OnStage, Long Beach Community Theater, Camel Golden Bough Theater and Bogata Players. She launched her acting career at the Coronado Playhouse as Amanda in Private Lives in 1958. A writer with a journalism degree from Northwestern University, Jeanne has written for several local papers.
Ray Fraggi (Clifford Snell) Several years ago, Ray decided to make acting a second career. His recent credits include Taking Stock, Prisoner of Second Avenue, The Shadow Box, Social Security, The Whole Worldās Watching & Nuts. He also sings with the New Melodiers & performs stand-up comedy anywhere thereās a stage. Originally from New York, Ray lived most of his life in Los Angeles where he graduated from UCLA. He has made enough money acting to last him for the rest of his life . . .if he doesnāt buy anything!
David Blaise Meredith (Mark Jenkins & the UP Man) David was honored twice in 1999 for his acting prowess. He was Juror #10 in the Aubrey Award winning production of 12 Angry Jurors & garnered the Coronado Playhouse Award for Best Supporting Actor as Ensign Pulver in Mister Roberts. David is happy to be working with Jerry, Jack, Jeanne, John, & Cornell again. & thanks to Mike "Lucky" McCullock for the love & support. Hey Jake! Welcome aboard!
Al Phillips (Dwight Brookfield) Al last appeared as the Bailiff in Vantage Theaterās production of On Trial for Murder. In the past he was involved in a number of shows at the Marquis Theatre including Madwoman of Chaillot & The Great American Cheese Sandwich. Al is a retired probation officer & currently teaches part-time in the Older Adult Program of the San Diego Community College District.
Richard Pines (Edward L. Mckeever) Richard is pleased to be making his debut at CPH. He was last seen at the Mira Mesa Theatre Guild in Beyond Therapy & in 1998 won an Aubrey as Best Supporting Actor in To Kill a Mockingbird at Scripps Ranch Community Theatre. Other credits include See How They Run, (Poway Performing Arts), Night of the Iguana (Patio Playhouse), & Rumors (Sweetooth Comedy Theatre). He co-starred in the independent film Friction, produced by APT 6 Motion Pictures which is currently running in Moscow & South Africa. His latest film Killing Time is due to be released by Two Fisted Films this spring.
Jack Pritchard (T. John Blessington) Boston born Jack Pritchard has appeared in 60 productions in California, has garnered three Best Actor Awards, and has received numerous nominations. He plays class A hardball & B racquetball. By day he owns & runs a retail/wholesale auto agency & reared three children. His last appearance at CHP was in Alone Together in 1998.
Ann Richardson (Narrator/Little Old Lady) is a professional actress who has performed various roles in many local venues, including the Old Globe, Hahn/Gaslamp, North Coast Repertory Theater, San Diego Actors Theatre, & Lambās Players. Ms. Richardsonās credits include television, commercials, & movies. CPH fans will remember her in Hot L Baltimore, Night of the Iguana , Deathtrap, & Spiderās Web.
Susan Tubielewicz (Miss LāArriere & Miss Logan) This is Susanās first production with the Coronado Playhouse. She previously performed in Grease, Alice in Wonderland, & Peter Pan. She has also studied with the American Dance Machine in New York.
Sarah Yakutis (Miss Estelle Evans) For the past ten years, you might have caught Sarahās perky performance as an elementary school teacher. She gave up that act to develop the promising talents of her daughter Grace with co-director & husband Alex. With her stage debut here as Miss Evans, she begins another lifetime dream of stage life.
Technical Crew
Jerry Moorehead (Director) Jerry made his directorial debut at CPH with Stage Struck (1995) for which he received a nomination for Best Director. His next directorial assignment Corpse (1997) brought seven ACT award nominations including Best Director & received two CPH awards for Best Director/Best Sound Design. His third show at CPH was Arsenic & Old Lace (1998). Jerry was also nominated for CPH Best Actor twice in 1994. His other acting awards include an Aubrey (ACT), an Aldea award (Onstage), & Best Actor awards from Scripps Ranch Theater & San Dieguito Playhouse. Jerry appeared in a 30-minute sitcom for KPBS-TV & in live action theater for two years with Merck Pharmaceutical Training Workshop both in San Diego & LA. He also appeared in OCTAD ONEāS annual Shakespeare by the Lake in Comedy of Errors & Twelfth Night. After Jerryās stage debut in the role of Pedro in Night of the Iguana at the Old Globe Theatre in 1962, came a hiatus of 19 years until he was coerced into taking the role of Teddy in Arsenic & Old Lace in 1981. Since then Jerry has acted in over forty plays throughout San Diego County. A few of his favorite roles include Sydney Bruhl (Deathtrap), Sir Wilfred (Witness for the Prosecution), Sir Roland Delphy (Spiderās Web), & Roland Brewster-Wright (Absurd Person Singular). Jerry attended San Diego High, SDSU, & City College majoring in art & language. His first love is the theater but other past-times include: his artwork, watching Padre baseball, & taking care of his beloved dog "Sweetie". Jerry finds directing challenging, exciting, rewarding & promises you some uproarious entertainment with The Solid Gold Cadillac.
Cornell Ellison (Stage Manager) Cornell jokes that sheās like a bad penny; she just keeps turning up! This is her third production with CPH as Stage Manager. Whether on stage or back stage, being involved is what itās about. Cornellās favorite roles: Sister Sarah Brown in Guys & Dolls, the Mock Turtle in Alice in Wonderland, Grandma Tzeitel in Fiddler on the Roof, one of the ugly stepsisters in Cinderella & Marta in Company. She hopes to be involved with Coronado Playhouse for many years in every capacity.
Dale Goodman (Lighting Design/Stage Technician) is the Owner/Operator of the Finest City Valet Service since 1980. He has been an active theatre technician since 1990, assisting youth productions with his son, Daymen, who is now living on the East Coast. Daleās credits include: extra work in local motion pictures, Fly Master for Kiss Them & Wish Them Goodbye, Assistant Stage Manager for Tea, Lysander in A Midsummer Nightās Dream 1998, Lights & Sound for Corpse, Lights & Set Deisgn for The Mousetrap, MND, The Tempest, & Technical Direction for I Hate Hamlet for which he won an Aubrey in 1998. Dale has also volunteered at the Hahn, Sweetooth, & the Casa del Prado.
Suzanne Sebenaler (Set Dressing) Suzanne developed a love for theatre while in high school. Favorite roles were in The Importance of Being Earnest, Shotgun Wedding, & Catherine in Wuthering Heights. The acting torch has since been passed to daughter, Hannah, while Suzanneās energies have turned to dressing sets here at the Coronado Playhouse, with the Christmas musical Angels Among Us, & The Mousetrap, both box office hits.
H. R. Spencer (Set & Sound Design) Making his technical debut at CPH, H.R. also works for Stu Segal Productions doing background. He studied technical theatre at Rhode Island College in 1974/75 & worked with Brown Universityās Rights & Reasons Theatre under the late George Bass. He also worked with Dr. Floyd Gafney who recently retired from UCSD as head of the theatre department. Currently the theatre manager at Community Actorsā Theatre in Southeast San Diego, H. R. does a show called Radio Free San Diego, a parody of Radio Free Europe on Monday nights. April 1976 he left Newport, Rhode Island where he lived down the street from Jackie Kennedy Onassis. (Of course, it was a long street.) We hope that he designs many more sets at CPH.
