This is a Cinderella Story about Mrs. Laura Partridge and the four ugly Corporation Directors. At the annual General Products stockholdersâ meeting, new officers must be elected because the president of the corporation has taken a government post in Washington. The president is forced to sell his stock at a profit of five million dollars. The election is going smoothly until a timid old lady, who owns ten shares, intervenes. She has read every page of the companyâs annual report and demands to know why the chairman of the board is being paid $275,000 a year, and how many hours he works to earn his money. The newly elected officers quickly shut her up by giving her a phony job and a generous paycheck. Soon, she becomes a kind of liaison officer for the other minority stockholders and discovers a small frim that General Products has just forced into bankruptcy is its own subsidiary! When the former president learns what a mess the current directors are making of his business, however, he resigns from his government job, and the big fight is on to regain control of his own business and, with our nice old lady, foil the wicked Board of Directors.
