George Blum (Tranio/Lucentio), George, the CHP board treasurer, recently appeared at the Coronado Playhouse in Hamlet (as Horatio) and in Solid Gold Cadillac, and feels honored to again work with Keith, Mary, and such a talented and dedicated cast, stage managers, and crew. George also appeared with the Murder Mystery Players production company in two shows during the past several months (Contract: Death & An Act of Murder). When he's not busy with his day job, George writes screenplays: one script is presently under option with a producer, is almost fully financed, and is expected to go into production before the end of 2001. Additionally, George has just finished co-writing the book to a new stage musical. George would like to thank Becky and his daughters (Holland, Mallory and Riley) for their never-ending support. Audrey Boo (Pre-show Fairie) is 12 and in her last year of middle school. She plays the clarinet in the Lincoln Middle School Symphony Orchestra which recently performed at Disneyland. She loves to play soccer and swim. Audrey appeared in The Tempest and Hamlet at CPH. She is following in the footsteps of her Papa, Alex Sandie, and gives thanks to Mary, Dana, MOM and all her family for their support & love. Amity Dawn Caffarella (pre-show singer) is a native San Diegan actress/singer who is delighted to be doing a show at the Coronado Playhouse. She has performed shows at Sushi & Sledgehammer Theater. Most of her vocal talents were harnessed and harvested at San Diego First Church of the Nazarene, Point Loma High School, and Mesa College. You may have seen her in Ain't Misbehavin' & Godspell. An entertainer since age six, Amity currently attends Mesa Community College. Alan Brian Clark (Vincentio) is a resident of Coronado who retired in 1999 after 31 years with the telephone company. Alan, a member of AFTRA/SAG, recently acted in the Stu Segal production of Just Act Normal. He has appeared in two Playhouse productions of A Midsummer Night's Dream, received an award for his role as Player King in Hamlet, served as assistant stage manager for I Hate Hamlet, stage manager for Tailor of Gloucester, & was proud to produce the popular, award-winning Mister Roberts at the Playhouse in 1999. He also appeared in The Sledgehammer's production of The Web as the Policeman. Marcus Allen Correia (Tailor/Officer), an Imperial Beach resident, retired from the U.S. Naval Air Force in 1992 and became active in theatre, working backstage at the Coronado Playhouse in 1997 for The Tempest. Marcus shared stage managing duties with his wife Teena for The Uninvited, Rumors, and Murder at the Vicarage. He made his acting debut last February in Murder at the Vicarage and since then has performed in M*A*S*H and The Gospel at Colonus. He thanks his wonderful wife for her support. Skyler A. Dennon (pre-show singer), a performer since age five, has recently completed an ensemble tour of Northern Europe, performances with the San Diego Symphony, and a series of smaller venue concerts. A writer and director, he is directing & co-arranging a new musical by San Diego writer, Barbara Cefalu, as well as preparing for the upcoming SD Opera production of The Gypsy Princess. A performing arts and music major, his credits include Whose Life is it Anyway, Take Her She's Mine, Same Time Next Year, Us and Them, Godspell, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Mame, Sweeney Todd, & Michael and the Pied Piper. DINO (Jester/Pre-show Coordinator) wrote a bio under protest since writing about himself takes away time from his artistic creation. "I live and die by you, the lovely audience, who have come to see The Taming of the Shrew. I hope you understand and appreciate my sacrifice." CORNELL ELLISON (pre-show performer/house manager) has been involved in theatre in some aspect since she was four years old. She has done everything backstage from finding that unusual prop to making costumes out of nothing and onstage from singing and dancing in one number to starring in a musical. Theatre is her hobby as well as her passion. Cornell needs to send thanks to Mike for allowing her this time "upon the wicked stage". MIKE ELLISON (pre-show performer/house manager) has appeared in several production here at Coronado Playhouse including, Gerhart in Mister Roberts, Gate Keeper in Angels Among Us, and a musician in Pump Boys and Dinettes. He retired in June of 2000 from the U.S. Navy with twenty years of service. Mike would like to thank Mary and Keith for their dedication to this production and Cornell for her inspiration and love. Brian Evans (Lucentio/Cambio) This is the first production Brian has done with the Coronado Playhouse and he hopes it won't be the only one. Brian was last seen in the Outkast production of The Rocky Horror Show at the Sushi last year playing Brad. Before that, he was Judas in the La Jolla Stage Company production of Godspell. Yes, for those who remember, he had much more hair back then and those braids were his. Brian has also been seen in San Diego in Noises Off! as Freddie and The Normal Heart as Mickey. After earning a BS in Applied Mathematics, he went on to earn an MFA in Musical Theatre (even he's not sure exactly how that happened) and was fortunate enough to serve an internship studying Acting at the Royal National Theatre in London, England. When not feeding his acting habit, Brian is a software test engineer. Jeffrey Lippold (Petruchio) BA English-SDSU, AA Theatre Arts-Grossmont College. Jeff has performed in many of Shakespeare's works including Hamlet (won ACT Aubrey Award for Best Lead Male Performance in a Drama for his portrayal of Hamlet), The Tempest, King Lear, Twelfth Night, As You Like it, Richard II, Henry V, and Romeo and Juliet to name a few. He has recently appeared at the playhouse as Lawrence Redding in Murder at the Vicarage and won the Best Supporting Actor award for his portrayal of Christopher Wren in The Mousetrap. Jeff is also a screenplay writer and has a current project in the works due for release in the near future. He is also a lifelong martial artist and ex-Navy SpecWarfare Commando, which spurs his zest for action. Jeff would like to thank the directors Keith and Mary Anderson for their support and introspective nature which is key to the success of their productions. Also much thanks to Mick O' Leary at the American Colleges of Karate in El Cajon which Jeff frequents regularly. Holly MacDonald (Katharina) "Kate" is Holly's debut performance with the Coronado Playhouse and is a dream role to which she has long aspired. Holly has been blessed indeed with opportunities to work steadily in the San Diego theatre community as both performer and choreographer. She is a singer, dancer and actress. Her favorite roles - now including Kate - are Cassie in A Chorus Line, Maxine in Stepping Out, Fiona Foster in How the Other HalfLoves, Irene Roth in Crazy for You and the Stepmother in Into the Woods. Many thanks to Keith and Mary for taking a chance on a newcomer. This performance as Kate is dedicated to Holly's niece, Stacie, the "drama queen." Jay Mawhinney (Baptista) is making his fifth appearance on the Coronado stage. He performed for two years in Angels Among Us, as Antonio in The Tempest, and as Major Haskell in M*A*S*H. Other credits include Starlight's production of Evita and five productions with the San Diego Comic Opera. Amy Mayer (Bianca) Amy is new to the San Diego theatre scene. This will be her first production in San Diego and she is very excited to be working with such a talented group of actors. She has spent the last 10 years up in L.A. doing commercials and TV work, such as E.R., Steven Spielberg's High Incident, Unsolved Mysteries, and Days of Our Lives, several independent films, and a pilot. She was pregnant with twins when she and her husband decided to move their family back to his home town of San Diego to raise their family. She is also currently training for the Chicago marathon so she would like to thank her children Cole, Hope, and Shane, and her wonderful husband Vic, for supporting her... always. They have learned that Mommy is a lot more fun to be around when she is doing what she loves. Alexandra Mootry (Pre-show Pixie) is 8 and attends Marvin Elementary School. She does some modeling & has been featured in a major department store's promotions. She likes to swim, bike, play soccer & softball & spend time with her friends & family. She looks forward to the time when her brother, Darius, (aged 9 months) will be on stage with her! Alexandra, with her cousin Audrey, also appread in CHP's The Tempest & Hamlet. "It's great fun!" She gives thanks to Mary & her family for their love & suppport. Kathryn Lee Moss (Biondella & Frances) After receiving her BFA in Theatre Performance/Directing at Utah State University, Kathryn is pleased to be making her San Diego debut at the Coronado Playhouse. Past performances include: Boo Levy in The Last Night of Ballyhoo, Miss Casewell in The Mousetrap, and Roxanne in Cyrano de Bergerac. Kathryn would like to thank Keith and Mary for this wonderful opportunity and her husband Brandon for his constant love and understanding! Richard O'Casey (Grumio) Born in Limerick, Ireland, Richard is currently writing plays and taking drama classes at Mira Costa College in pursuit of a degree in Dramatic Arts. He is still "pumping iron" and working on playwrighting skills. He has appeared in Hamlet as Rosencrantz and Marcellus, Murder at the Vicarage as Inspector Slack, as the Boatswain in The Tempest, & as Thomas Andrews in The Titanic, and The Visit. Thanks, Mary and Keith, for casting me once again in another great play with fine actors. Glad to be working again with you guys. "Use Your Authority." And thank you Joel and Carlos for being such great human beings. Your friendship and support is priceless. I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life so don't forget to ask me what "The Crack" is. I give you a touch of the blarney. Shannon Palmer (Widow), making her debut on the Coronado stage, was born in 1970 in Oxford Mississippi and moved to San Diego County with her family when she was 8. After graduating from Marian High School, she attended Southwestern Community College and later returned to the South to attend the University of New Orleans for two years before finishing her bachelor of science degree at SDSU. Along the way, she pciked up a couple of acting classes. Since graduation, she has studied additional drama, voice and music classes at Mesa Community College and took Keith Anderson's Shakespearean workshop this spring. Shannon and her husband Rick enjoy an active lifestyle as residents of Mission Beach. Alex Sandie (Pedant who poses as Vincentio) has acted in local community theatre over the past several years & is always inspired here in beautiful Coronado. He has appeared as Polonius in Hamlet, Antonio in The Tempest, Theseus in A Midsummer Night's Dream, and "grrrreatly enjoyed" the role of Mr. Paravicini in The Mousetrap last year. Other productions include: Octad-One productions of Hamlet, Merry Wives of Windsor, & The Glass Harp. He has also been seen in Dracula, Something's Afoot, The Importance of Being Earnest & Solid Gold Cadillac. For Vanguard Productions, he did Death Takes a Holiday, The Visit, The Uninvited & Gigi. For C.C.T.& Lawrence Welk Theatre, a favorite role was Mr. Lundie in Brigadoon. His duties as president & co-founder of the San Diego Shakespeare Society also keep him busy. Born & educated in Edinburgh, Scotland, he loves his "girrrls" & his new grandson Darius. Enjoy! William Savage (Gremio) A retired mining engineer and educator, has appeared with 14 different college and theatre groups throughout San Diego over the past several years. This is his tenth production with the Coronado Playhouse. His last was as Dr. Haydock in Murder at the Vicarage. Last summer he appeared as the Gravedigger in Hamlet for which he received an ACT nomination. Some memorable roles have been: Inherit the Wind (Drummond), King Lear (Gloucester), A Midsummer Night's Dream (Egeus), The Tempest (Gonzalo) As You Like It (Elder Duke), Death of a Salesman (Charley), Of Mice and Men (Candy) and The Deadly Game (The Judge), In addition to acting, William keeps in touch with the mining industry, substitute teaches and enjoys dancing which includes tap and softshoe. Franklin White (Hortensio/Licio) is making his San Diego debut at the Coronado Playhouse, performing the role of Hortensio. His previous turns on the stage include Oscar in Neil Simon's The Odd Couple and Woodruff Gatetly in Private Wars. He also originated the role of Dean Jenkins in Brian Robbin's We Ain't Too Pretty, We Ain't Too Proud. He is a graduate of California Polytechnic University at San Luis Obispo and currently makes his home in Ocean Beach. Production Staff Keith A. Anderson (Director) has been employed in professional theatre as an actor, director, & producer for over thirty-five years. This is his tenth production at the Playhouse; others include: The Mousetrap (twice), The Hollow, 1997 & 1998- A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Tempest, Hamlet, I Hate Hamlet, & Social Security (he received the Playhouse Best Direction award & an Aubrey nomination for the latter three). He was Artistic Director of the Southwest Ensemble Theater in Phoenix, a professional, resident theatre for three & a half years. For seven & a half years, he was Drama Director for the City of Phoenix. While working in Los Angeles, he was Associate Director & board member of Hollywood Actor's Theatre & was involved with TV & film. He received his M.A. in theatre from Cal State LA. Of his many productions, the most notable was his direction of the World Premiere in 1973 of William Inge's The Last Pad which starred then unknown actor Nick Nolte & won nominations from the LA Drama Critics' Circle. While serving as Drama Director for the City of Phoenix, Anderson started the Phoenix Free Shakespeare Festival, supervised over 80 citywide drama classes, & sponsored a New Playwright's Festival. His book, An Essay on the Meaning of Hamlet: A Director's Approach was published in 1979. An updated version with his adapted acting script is due to be published later this year.
