Larry is very happy to be back at the helm of a Neil Simon comedy here at the Coronado Playhouse. He had another very successful experience here in 1997 with the laugh hit, Last of the Red Hot Lovers. Larry is very familiar with Neil Simon's work, he directed an Aubrey Award winning production of Chapter Two for Lamplighters in 1994, and scoring another hit with The Odd Couple -Female Version for the Fiesta Dinner Theatre in 1986 and more recently with a Simon-Hamlisch-Bayer-Sager musical, They're Playing Our Song at the Coronado Playhouse in 1999.
Larry has proved himself to be adept at musical comedy direction in recent years with Hello Dolly in 1998 and Kiss Me Kate earlier this year, both at Lamplighters. His other directorial credits cover 28 busy years in the theatre and include such titles as Move Over, Mrs.Markham, Not Now, Darling, The Pleasure of His Company, The Women, Summer and Smoke, The Philadelphia Story, Watch On The Rhine, The Matchmaker, 6 Rms Riv Vu, Ladies in Retirement and many more.
He is also an actor who has a one man show entitled, Wilde/Coward, featuring highlights of both Oscar Wilde and Noel Coward's works for the stage. This was recently produced at the FaultLine Theatre in Hillcrest. Look for more news of other engagements of this piece. He has also performed lead or featured roles in The Importance of Being Earnest, The Man Who Came to Dinner, Charley's Aunt (Aubrey Award Winner), and Murder at the Howard Johnson's, among others.
Larry also has written two musicals with writing partner Gayle M. Davis, Fineweather and Piano Bar Blues - gearing up for future productions very soon. When not working in the theatre, Larry is a freelance wedding consultant and Catering Director for Neimans Fine Dining and Entertainment in Carlsbad, and teaches acting at various locations and for various age levels.
