CAST LIST
David Beckett (Lenny): David Beckettās career has included television, theater and film. He has appeared as a principal on The Young and the Restless, as a series lead on PBSā Math Matters, and many other national as well as local commercials. His film credits include a lead in the Richard Kidd film No Chance which won a bronze medal in the New York Film Festival. His theatre credits include the Broadway tour of the Lincoln Center production of Anything Goes. In New York he performed off öBroadway with Circle Rep, Soho Rep and other companies including leading roles with the Riverside Shakespeare Company. In California he has performed with such companies as Group Repertory Theater (Gene in I Never Sang for my Father) and Fountain Theater where he created the character of the heroineās father in the world premiere of F. Scott Fitzgeraldās Tender is the Night. This is Mr. Beckettās first show in San Diego.
Carlie Garrison (Ken): Carlie is pleased to be working with the Coronado Playhouse again this year. He has recently been seen in Hamlet, A Midsummer Nights Dream, and the Tempest where he received a nomination for best supporting actor for his part as Trinculo. He is attending Southwestern College and is majoring in Theater Arts. He would like to thank everyone he has worked with in previous shows at the Coronado Playhouse and for the many memories.
Kimberly Garland (Cookie): Kimberly first appeared on our stage as Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest. This is her third time in a Neil Simon play directed by Larry Steckling. She last appeared here as Bobbi in Last of the Red Hot Lovers and as Jennie in Chapter Two at the Lamplighters. From Shakespeare (Juliet, Kate, and Titania) to darker roles in Verdict, Full Circle, So Long on Lonely Street and Nuts to light comedy to musicals. Kimberly would like to dedicate her performance to her late mother Adele, with whom she shared the stage many times. I love you Mom!
Richard Herring (Officer Welch): Richard Herring is a long time resident of the San Diego area. His love for the theater began at the age of eight. His first role was the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland, and it has definitely been a down the rabbit hole/wonderland experience ever since. Richard has also appeared at the Coronado Playhouse as Officer O'hara in Arsenic and Old Lace as well as the Captain in Mr. Roberts. He appeared this summer as the ghost in Hamlet, here at the Playhouse. Richard has also joined the newly formed Shakespeare Society of San Diego.
He is very happy to be in Rumors. "Neil Simon is the best of the best when it comes to comedy and after doing Shakespeare, I need a little cheering up," says Richard.
Kimberly Kaplan (Chris): Kimberly is a high school drama and English teacher who has a bachelorās degree in drama. This Boston native was last seen in The Best Laid Plans at the Fault Line Theater in Hillcrest. This is her second production at the Coronado Playhouse. Her debut performance at the Playhouse was Murder on the Nile in which she played Christina Grant. Kimberly has been performing at various theaters throughout San Diego since 1990. One of her favorites was Steel Magnolias in which she played the part of Shelby.
Kerry McCarthy (Cassie): Kerry received her academic theatrical training at San Diego State Universityās department of Dramatic Arts as well as with the Howard Fine Studioās in Los Angeles. Her L.A. stage credits include: Lysandra, Midsummer Nights Dream; Billy, Born Yesterday; and as Julie in Pizza Man. Seattle productions include: Julie in Miss Julie at the August Strindberg festival and as Helene in Mother Love at the Northridge Theatre. Kerryās San Diego performances include: Madame in The Maids; Crow in Tooth of the Crime; and as Teresius in Antigone.
Kerry made her film debut in the independent comedy I do. Donāt I?. This film won the ĪFinalistā award at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. Her other film credits include: Sweet Poison and a supporting role in "The Talent". In addition to acting Kerry is an accomplished equestrian and resides in Crown Point with her husband Tim, Murphy, the dog and Frank, the cat.
Bob Novak (Ernie): Bob Novak is new to the theater, with Rumors as his first performance. He is currently training to be a Dale Carnegie instructor, which has had the side benefit of developing his acting ability and which encouraged him to audition. As a member of Toastmasters International, he is practicing to become an effective public speaker. Bob grew up in Pacific Beach, and has spent most of his life in San Diego, and is married with three children. He works as a production manager in Kearny Mesa.
Yvonne Lindroth Silva (Claire): Yvonne is happy to be returning to the Coronado Playhouse. She last appeared here in the Aubrey Award winning production of Twelve Angry Jurors. Prior to that she played Helene in Alone Together, Titania in the 1997 production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, Sarah in The Norman Conquests trilogy, and Elaine in Last of the Red Hot Lovers. Audiences may also remember her as Barbara in Social Security for which she won the Coronets' Award for best actress. Elsewhere she has been seen in The Philadelphia Story at Torrey Pines Theater, Par For The Corpse at OnStage Theater, The Fourth Wall at Sweetooth Theatre, and Murder At The Howard Johnson's for La Jolla Stage Co. Most recently she has been performing Love Letters in the traveling outreach program for La Jolla Stage Co. She is delighted to once again be working with Director D. Larry Steckling and her pal Kimberly Garland as well as the rest of this talented cast.
Stacey Stratton (Officer Pudney): Stacey graduated from the University of Akron with a B.A. in Communications/Public Relations.
Last year she visited Coronado in the spring and moved here in June. She recently performed in The Promise, a student production at Palomar College, that placed 2nd at the Del Mar Fair. She currently trains at the Robert Wald Actors Studio. Stacey is excited to be here at the Coronado Playhouse for her 1st theatrical performance.
Eric West (Glen): This is Ericās first appearance at the Coronado Playhouse. He just finished a play at Grossmont College called A Cry of Players as the character Hodges. Ericās father was involved in numerous movies and television shows as an actor, stuntman and coordinator as well as a stand-in. His uncle has directed numerous television and feature films Eric is currently enrolled in acting classes and has voice-over training. He is an aspiring actor and currently resides in San Diego.
