Cast Biographies

Welcome to the Coronado Playhouse and to our production of Pump Boys and Dinettes! Theater is always a collaborative art, and this show exemplifies that reality in many ways. Rehearsals were packed with needle and thread toting moms, fast-food-fetching dads, gloating grandparents, tireless designers, amiable actors and amazing–amazing children. I believe you will fid this production is filled with multitalented and diverse actors, any of them newcomers whom I am sure you will soon see again and again. My love and many thanks to my two right hand men, Dave and Thom, without whom this production would not be possible. A special thanks to my personal assistant, Liza Webb, who works tirelessly. My richest blessings to my assistant choreographer and dear friend, Shirley Giltner, my own dear daughter Tiffany who inspires me daily. My thanks, God’s richest blessings to you, dear fellow artists.

David M. Miller
L.M.

David is thrilled to be performing the role of LM in his second show at the Coronado Playhouse, "Pump Boys and Dinettes." Born and raised in a small town in Iowa, he remembers the little diners that served up homemade pie and the good ol’ boys who would spend all day in the garage fixing your car. They may not have been the quickest workers in the world, but there was a sense of hospitality that compares to nothing else. David would like to say, "Sit back, relax and enjoy the warm-felt southern hospitality, laughs and music of the ‘Pump Boys and Dinettes.’"

Brynda Brodie

He also has appeared at the Jewish Community Center and just last year at the Diversionary Theatre in "Blood on Fire."

She would like to dedicate her performance to her loving mom, Liza Webb.

God bless!

Mike George
Garage Worker–Guitar

This is Mike’s third production at Coronado Playhouse. He was previously seen as Gerhart in "Mister Roberts" and Gatekeeper #1 in "Angels Among Us." Mike retired from the Navy last June with twenty years of service. He would like to thank Leigh for her awesome talent and inspiration and his wife, Cornell, for her never-ending love and support.

David Cabinian
Catfish Singer

David loves to tag along with his big sister, Michelle. That’s how he ended up singing on stage at the Coronado Playhouse. He was featured in Starlight Theatre’s production of "Evita" in 2000 as a member of the children’s chorus. At 6 years old, David has learned one of life’s most important lessons: Always say "Yes, Ma’am!" and "Thank You!" when Ms. Leigh addresses you (then you’ll be sure to get a big hug from her!).

Michelle Cabinian
Understudy for Bebe Cupp

Michelle is thrilled to be back on stage at the Coronado Playhouse. Her first appearance here was as "Josie" in the original 1999 production of "Angels Among Us." Last year she performed in the children’s chorus of "Evita" at Starlight Theatre. Michelle sends her love and thanks to all of her family and friends. "What would I do without you?!"

Amy Sterling
Understudy for Dixie Cupp

Amy’s most recent role was Victoria in "Angels Among Us" at the Coronado Playhouse. She has also played Peter in the children’s musical "Peter Pan" at the Spreckles Theatre. In her spare time, Amy also loves to dance! She has had extensive training in ballet, jazz and tap. Amy would like to thank her family for all their love and support!

David Waldman
Technical Director, Light and Sound Designer.

Dave Waldman has designed light and sound for a number of Playhouse productions, most recently, "Rumors" and the wildly successful "Angels Among Us." David has had a lifelong interest in sound and light design, and would like to thank Leigh Scarritt for giving him the opportunity to explore new ideas and challenges. Dave would also like to thank his partner in life, Thom for putting up with him during the difficult and stressful creative process of bringing "Pumpboys and Dinettes" to the Coronado stage.

Liza Webb
Producer and Stage Manager.

Liza has found her second home here at the Coronado Playhouse. She began working in theatre five years ago. Her spotlight, however, is backstage and behind-the-scenes. Liza enjoys working in different roles as a jack-of-all-trades to help create and produce successful shows.

Margo Selensky
Costume Designer.

Margo has been creating costumes for thirteen years. She has been a costumer for Black Mountain Dance, City Ballet, Starlight, Poway Performing Arts, and the San Diego Repertory Theatre.

In 1999 Margo won the Coronado Playhouse’s Annual Honors as best costumer, for"Angels Among Us."

Thom Jason Waldman
Assistant Director, Set Designer.

Thom’s last performance at the Coronado Playhouse as Carmichael in Leigh Scarritt’s "Angels Among Us" honored him with a nomination for best supporting actor last year. Thom will never forget working with Leigh for the first time in the Starlight Theatre’s production of "Camelot." They again worked as actors in "Evita." Assisting Miss Scarritt with this production has been one of Thom’s biggest blessings. Working with this fantastically talented and wonderful cast has also been a treat. Love to Tiffany and Shirley and everyone in this cast. As always, none of this would have been half the fun or half as special without his better half, David, who after 20 years still amazes Thom. Both Thom and Dave hope you enjoy the surrounds they and our staff have created to take you to a roadside diner and a dusty gas station along Highway 57.
