Andres C. Bernal (Winkie General, Jitterbug, Ensemble) Andres Bernal, age 18, is currently a freshman at San Diego State University. While in high school, he performed in a show choir competing in San Diego and received the “Golden Voice” award during his senior year. This is his first theater production. He works at Starbucks and looks forward to doing more theater in the future. Chrissy Burns (Miss Gultch/Wicked Witch) has been performing since age two in San Diego and elsewhere, doing musicals, plays, dance shows, runway fashion shows and more. A member of the La Jolla Stage Company’s Artists Guild and Actors Alliance of San Diego, this year Chrissy performed in The Vagina Monologues, Becoming, Chess, Side By Side By Sondheim and Invisible Bob. May your spirit tenderly push away the sounds of this rushing world and hear instead the song that lives within your heart!” Marcus Allen Correia (Alternate Uncle Henry) an Imperial Beach resident retired from the U.S. Naval Air Force in 1992, works as an aircraft mechanic in the aerospace industry. He became active at Coronado Playhouse doing running crew for The Tempest in 1999. Marcus shared stage-managing duties with his wife Teena for at least eight shows. He acted in The Mousetrap, Twelfth Night, Moon Over Buffalo, The Hollow, Murder at the Vicarage, M*A*S*H, The Gospel at Colonus, The Taming of the Shrew, Everybody Loves Opal, Much Ado About Nothing, Macbeth, and Biloxi Blues. Marcus won Best Costuming 2002 for the soldier uniforms in Biloxi Blues and received an Aubrey nomination for Best Actor in a Major Support for The Mousetrap. Brett Daniels (Cowardly Lion) Brett Daniels is excited to be returning to the Coronado Playhouse for his second production after a long absence. He first appeared at Coronado Playhouse as Matt in The Fantasticks. Brett most recently performed at Scripps Ranch Theater in Side by Side by Sondheim and Once Upon A Mattress (The Wizard). Other recent credits include Working at Patio Playhouse, various roles in Sweet Charity at Moonlight Amphitheater, and Lance in Porn Yesterday at the 2003 Fritz Blitz. Favorite roles have been Che in Evita, and Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors. During the day, Brett sells real estate and tries to live everyday to the fullest. “It’s a good life!” Allison Edmonds (Munchkin) Allison, a fourth grader, age 9, is very excited to be performing in her first play at The Coronado Playhouse. She performed last season as Ana Maria in A View from the Bridge and Lee Proctor in Guest in the House at Lamplighter’s Community Theater. She has performed as Tinman in The Wizard of Oz, Willy Wonka in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Wiggle Worm in Wiggle Worm’s Christmas, Mary in Babes in Toyland, and several other parts for La Mesa Parks and Recreation, Metropolitan Educational Theater, Saratoga Community Festival Theater, and Angels International, Inc. Allison loves acting, reading, dancing, playing with her brother and sister, and working with all the people on this show. Danielle Edmonds (Munchkin) Danielle, a first grader, age 6, could hardly wait to perform at the Coronado Playhouse. She has appeared at Lamplighter’s Community Theater for La Mesa Parks and Recreation as a Munchkin in The Wizard of Oz, Jill in Babes in Toyland, an “oompa loompa” in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory a doll in The Clown that Ran Away, as well as others. She loves to act, dance, read and play with her friends and family. She hopes everyone will have fun at this play. Brian P. Evans (Wizard of Oz/Alternate Zeke & Lion) He’s not wearing a dress! The last time Brian was onstage at the Coronado Playhouse, he was wearing a dress in the 2003 production of Cinderella, playing the evil stepsister Asphyxia for which he won the Aubrey for Major Support in a Musical. Before that, he also wore a dress and won the Billie for Best Actor for The Mystery of Irma Vep at the La Jolla Stage Company as Nicodemus/Lady Enid/Alcazar. Perhaps he should have considered auditioning for the Witch. Brian has also been seen around San Diego in such productions as The Compleat Wrks of Wllm Shkspr (abridged) at the LJSC and Sixth@Penn (where he didn’t wear a dress, but he did play Juliet’s Nurse and Macbeth’s Witches), Chess at the LJSC as Molokov, and The Taming of the Shrew here at Coronado as Lucentio. He has just finished his first stint as Musical Director for Seussical at the LJSC. Gina Brianne Goodman (Miss Gultch/Alternate Witch), currently a senior at Granite Hills High School, is actively involved in the Granite Hills Acting Workshop where she has played the Granny in Into the Woods, Peas-Blossom in A Midsummer’s Night Dream, and Sonia in Godspell. She has also been in many productions for Summerstock Theater directed by Barry Bosworth. Some of her roles include Daisy in Lady Be Good, the Mother in Music Across America, and Miss Hannigan in Annie. Gina would like to thank her friends for all of their support and her parents, who are her biggest fans. Chloe Hoffmann (Munchkin), a second grader at Coronado Village Elementary School, ~plays soccer, baseball,~dabbles in the piano, and is learning the flute. She played Gretl in Christ Church’s production of The Sound of Music earlier this year. This is her first chance to perform with the Coronado Playhouse. Maude Hoffmann (Munchkin), a fourth grader at Coronado Village Elementary School, plays baseball and NADO soccer, dabbles in the piano, and is learning the clarinet. She performed in Coronado High School’s Cinderella and played Marta in Christ Church’s production of The Sound of Music earlier this year. Dorian Koehring (Munchkin, Coroner) Dorian started his theater experience at the Lamplighter’s Theater, during summer camps in La Mesa. In 2002, he played the parts of a peasant, a mouse, and a frog in Coronado Playhouse’s Cinderella, a British Panto, directed by Mary O’Brien. In 2003, he was Balthy King in We Three Kings, directed by Gladys Rongey. Besides acting, Dorian loves singing, especially songs from musicals. does hip-hop, breakdancing, and studies tap-dancing at Vernetta’s studio in North Park. Dorian, who plays the violin, has just joined the San Diego Youth Symphony. Homeschooling helps him pursue his various interests. Leah Lyons (Munchkin/Barrister/Ensemble) Leah is delighted to be making her debut at the beautiful Coronado Playhouse. You may remember her as the little girl who belted out the National Anthem weekly at the 2003 Coronado Concerts in the Parks series. She has performed in various productions of CYT, The Lamplighter’s Theater, San Diego Junior Theater, Limon Carr Productions, and CCT. Favorite roles include Annie in Annie at Summerstock Theater, Emily in Let It Snow at Legoland, and Gracie in The Music Man at the Welk Resort. When not onstage, Leah enjoys dancing and singing at various venues in the San Diego area. She extends her thanks to all of the Oz directors for casting her in her all-time favorite show. Tony McConville (Tinman alternate) Tony is beyond excited to be a part of this production, his first work on a community theatre stage. He has appeared in the Coronado School of the Arts’ production of Grease, Kiss me, Kate, and The World Goes ‘Round. Soon he will be seen on the SDSU stage in Guys and Dolls as Sky Masterson. Thanks to everyone, especially Larry and Aly for this opportunity. Michelle Millum (Ensemble/Jitterbug/Alternate Scarecrow) When not performing at one of her favorite venues around town, Michelle is the costumer/choreographer for Monte Vista High School and a cheery box office associate at La Jolla Playhouse. In addition to performing, her career plan is to become an interior designer. Anthony Moreno (Nikko) Anthony was last seen in Junior Theatre’s 42nd Street. He also appeared in Starlight Musical Theatre’s Fiddler on the Roof and Damn Yankees. Other credits include The Boyfriend (Percival Browne),Big River (the King), Once Upon a Mattress (Sir Luce). He would like to thank his mom for always being there for him, Chrissy Burns for leading him the right way, and Joani Greiner for giving him his start. Adena Merriel Peckler (Munchkin) Adena, age 9, is thrilled to be in this show. She attends Mr. Everest Academy where she studies violin and voice. She studies acting at San Diego Junior Theatre. Iman Reese (Munchkin) Iman’s two greatest passions are singing and dancing. She also loves the art of acting. Active and outgoing, she is presently studying classical voice at the Academy of Sound and Music. Iman is also enrolled in a “hip hop” dance class and acting classes at the Chula Vista Women’s Club. Iman has performed in three plays: The Mock Trial ( Yosemite Sam), The Haunted House (Lori), and The Road Trip (Nicole). Iman is a member of the Edison Elementary school choir and Chula Vista Girl Scouts. Rebecca Seubert (Auntie Em/Glinda the Good Witch) Rebecca, a native San Diegan, is excited to perform here in Coronado. She studies at Grossmont College and plans to pursue a career on the stage. Favorite credits include Hippolyta in Midsummer Night’s Dream at Poor Players, Side By Side By Sondheim at Scripps Ranch Theater, Let’s Do It and The Love Songs of Cole Porter at Oceanside Light Opera. She also played Ginger in the 1940’s Radio Hour at Lamplighter’s Theater and Fiametta in The Gondoliers, at Lyric Opera San Diego and SDSU Opera Theatre. She works crew on The House, a local cable access comedy show. Rebecca also works on student films, both as an actress and a crew member. Come wintertime, she is a Victorian caroler. She has won a number of awards, including a 2002 Aubrey. Emily Shackelford (Dorothy alternate) Emily is very excited to be performing with the Coronado Playhouse for the first time. Her most recent role was Gertrude McFuzz in Seussical the Musical with San Diego Junior Theater. Other roles with San Diego Junior Theater include Ronette in Little Shop of Horrors, Sister Margaretta in The Sound of Music and Rosie in Really Rosie. She’s been in ensembles in productions such as 42nd Street, Footloose and Once on this Island. During the summer of 2004 she played the role of Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz with Vanguard Productions. Paige Solomon (Munchkin), age 8, a third grader at Village Elementary School in Coronado, is thrilled to be making her debut at the Coronado Playhouse. She was last seen this summer in San Diego Junior Theater’s production, Babe, as a puppy and a duck. She also performed in Coronado High School’s production of Cinderella, the Musical. She recently moved to California from Manhattan and is happy that San Diego has so much theater to offer. Thanks to my Mom, Dad and sister Amanda. Billy Stevens (Tinman/Hickory) Billy is happy to be making his Coronado Playhouse debut in a show that is very dear to his “heart.” He was most recently seen as a dancer in Chess at the La Jolla Stage Company and as ARPAD in She Loves Me at Lamplighter’s Theater. Billy would like to thank Chrissy and Sarah for making this show so much fun and his students and friends for all their support. Billy wishes to dedicate this performance to “the one who inspires him the most!” Erick L. Sundquist (Scarecrow) Erick is delighted to make his Coronado Playhouse debut. He has recently been seen in Singing in the Rain, Guys and Dolls and Once Upon a Mattress with Scripps Ranch Theater. He has also been involved in productions with both Disney Entertainment Productions and Sea World San Diego. A special thanks to everyone who made this production possible Alison Sykes (Jitterbug/Ensemble) Aly is very excited to be apart of the Coronado Playhouse production of The Wizard of Oz. She is a senior at the Coronado School of the Arts and has done many shows there including: Grease!, Kiss Me Kate, The Crucible, Big: The musical, She Loves Me, and six Musical Reviews. She’s currently rehearsing to perform in Guys & Dolls at San Diego State University Theatre. As a member of the St. Cecilia Choir, she’s performed in La Boheme, Hansel & Gretel, Otello, and Tosca for the San Diego Opera. Much love to her family and friends, and a special thank you to Sharon and Chrissy for this opportunity. Claire Villard (Jitterbug/Ensemble), making her Coronado Playhouse debut, is thrilled to be involved with The Wizard of Oz. As a veteran of CYT, (Christian Youth Theater), Claire has performed in over 13 productions. One of her favorite roles was Mrs. Medlock in CYT’s Secret Garden. “I am very blessed to be in this show and I would like to thank the artistic team, my family, friends and ultimately, God, for this awesome experience!” Chelsea Amanda Vexland (Munchkin/Mayor/Chorus), age 12, attends Joan McQueen Middle School in Alpine. Chelsea, who is making her Coronado Playhouse debut, recently appeared as the daughter in Youth Summerstock Theater’s original production Music Across America. Other credits include a supporting role in YST’s 2003 Production, Gershwin For You, for which she received an Aubrey/ACT nomination. She also had a chorus role in Lady Be Good. She studies voice and piano, and is also a leading youth hunter-jumper rider in San Diego County. For the past 4 years, Chelsea has sung with the San Diego Children’s Choir. Other accomplishments include holding the title of Junior Miss Alpine - 2001. Chelsea loves music and is thrilled to be in The Wizard of Oz. Sarah Vincelett (Dorothy) Sarah is a senior honor student at Granite Hills High School. She is delighted to be reunited with so many talented theater buddies in this splendid Coronado location. Sarah’s local credits and awards include two Youth Billie Best Musical Actress awards and several Aubrey nominations. Her favorite roles include Ruby (Dames at Sea), Nanette (No, No Nanette), Polly (The Boyfriend), Rapunzel (Into the Woods) and Suzy (Lady be Good). She currently performs for Gretchen Productions, A Class Act singing telegram and The Sentimental Journey show tour, as well as participating in Scottish and Irish dancing. Love ya Grandma Mimi, Dad and Mom! May Wheeler (Jitterbug/Ensemble), making her Coronado Playhouse debut, is ecstatic to be involved with The Wizard of Oz. May has been involved with many San Diego theatres including The Granite Hills Acting Workshop, Summerstock Theater, CTY and CCT. A senior at Granite Hills High School, she currently works at Sea World as a costume character. She would like to thank her friends Luke, Gina, Shannon and Erin, who always keep her laughing. “Everyone, everywhere, dance …or fade out!!” Martin M. White (Uncle Henry-Guard/Prof. Marvel-Wizard alternate) Martin has late appeared on Coronado Playhouse’s stage as Ross/and the Porter in Macbeth, Mr. Paravicini in The Mousetrap, Inspector Colquhoun in The Hollow, as Malvolio in Twelfth Night, and as Dogberry in Much Ado About Nothing.
