Cast Biographies
Heather Boucher (Junior Sunbeam) Singing and dancing are two things Heather likes to do best. The another is trying to find a shorter route to Coronado from her home in Rancho Carmel.
Bob Christiansen (Baron Hardupp) As producer, director, set-builder and actor, Bob has excelled in every aspect of theater, but we’re particularly happy to have him as a comedian, the hard-pressed, hen-pecked baron. While the original Cinderella had no father, only a stepmother, the playwright created one for this pantomime, and we feel sure he had a certain person in mind - a tall, blond, singing-actor who can stumble and bumble his way into your hearts. That’s Bob.
Jimmy Christiansen (Ammer) Fresh from his role as a recruit in Biloxi Blues, Jimmy mustered out just in time to take on the role of a drayman who tries to evict Baron Hardupp (his real-life dad) from Stoneybrook Manor. A recent graduate of Bonita Vista High School where he sang with their famous Music Machine show choir for three years, Jimmy is juggling his college studies with theater work, building a career that’s headed for stardom.
Michael Cruse (Major Domo) Mike cruised into Coronado looking for action, hoping to cash in on his theatrical credits from Helix High. He found it in the role of the Major Domo, which is defined as a man in charge of a great, royal or noble house; chief steward. Because of Mike’s manly bearing and authoritative air, he was a natural for the role. Besides, he fit into our Beefeater costume.
Dino (Euthanasia) Even though he has a regular first, middle and last name, Dino is known throughout the region by one name only, Dino, which stands for master of Design, Improvisation, Navy, and Omnitalents. He’s done it all, from mask-making to clowning, costuming, set-building, dancing, singing and acting, and, as he puts it, “Making a fool of myself!“ And so he felt portraying Euthanasia would be simply a natural extension of his many talents. We were more than happy to oblige.
Darci Daniels-Murphy (The Baroness) When not opening acts in Las Vegas, or appearing in television commercials, or singing locally with her band Flashback, or entertaining on cruise ships, Darci has found time in Coronado to give Baron Hardupp a very hard time, indeed. As the wicked stepmother, she brings an entirelly new dimension to the Baroness - glamour and grit - so much you almost find yourself rooting for the old bawd. In her spare time, Darci enjoys being with her family.
Katie Eagleheart (Junior Sunbeam) At 12 years of age, Katie is a veteran of four different Nutcracker productions as well as two summer theater camps. She’s also studied with Christian Youth Theatre.
Brian P. Evans (Asphyxia) Stepping into the role of Asphyxia on short notice because of an emergency, Brian called on his invaluable experience playing multiple roles in The Mystery of Irma Vep where he portrayed Lady Enid and other quirky characters at La Jolla Stage. This highly talented baritone has an MFA in Musical Theater from San Diego State University. His most recent appearance at the Playhouse was as Lucentio in Taming of The Shrew last summer.
Daeg N. Faerch (Scamper) Young Daeg has already amassed a wealth of experience in his 7 years. A veteran of Children’s Theater in San Diego, Daeg also speaks French as well as mouse-talk.
Cori L. Faulkner (Hedda Steam) As first lady of the town of Merrivale, Cori is appearing in her third production this year. She recently was cast as Mrs. Menckle in Coronado’s Bye Bye Birdie.
Frank Godinez (Buttons) The last time Coronado audiences saw Frank on stage was last year, portraying an afflicted curate suffering from sleeping-sickness in Murder at the Vicarage. Well, he’s wide-awake now, taking command of the stage as Buttons, the indispensable general fact-totem of Stoneybroke Manor. Frank was a member of the ensemble of the 1940’s Radio Theater at Lamplighter’s which won the 2002 Aubrey Award. He’s also a member of Stage 7 Dance Theater.
Armi Guzman (Cinderella) A classy and versatile performer with a solid repertoire of jazz, R&B, ballad, disco and OPM (Original Pilipino Music), the former Miss Philippines of San Diego County has performed to sold-out concerts at the Dream Catcher Showroom at the Viejas Casino. She was recently a featured artist at Rob Appel’s Summer Quest 2002 (San Diego’s HIV/AIDS benefit concert) sharing the spotlight with stars such as Sam Harris of Broadway’s Revival and the legendary Ann Miller.
Carolyn Wheat Koenig (Alternate Cinderella) Carolyn lists among her special skills “playing dead.” Audiences who have seen her as Ophelia in Hamlet can attest to that. She also breathed her last as Anya in the recent mystery-drama Verdict. But this lively soprano, a graduate of Mary Washington College, is a bonafide historic preservationist, which means she can breathe life into all sorts of musty artifacts. She’s also a breath of fresh air backstage.
Dorian Koehring (Scramble) When not singing and dancing, 8-year-old Dorian really likes to hit the books. He’s home-schooled at the 5th grade level and has read all the Harry Potter novels.
Kirstie Kohlmeier (Prince Charming) Lovely Kirstie is taking on the traditional “trouser role” in our pantomime because, quite frankly, we think she has the best-looking legs in the cast. She also sings, dances and plays the piano. She has just recently moved to Coronado, and she brings along a background in musical theater, having performed in Westside Story, What Ever Happened to Sleeping Beauty and skits on cruise ships. She’s now ready to take on opera’s Cherubin and Octavio.
Richard Lau (Tongs) With a science degree from U.C. Davis, an expertise in Latin-American dancing, a talent for the violin and fluency in Cantonese, Richard was simply a natural for Tongs, the drayman in Cinderella. He and his partner, Ammer, are the Laurel and Hardy of the ensemble who try to repossess the furniture from Stoneybroke Manor. According to his resume, this marks Richard’s 12th dramatic production in 2002, which seems even more than fate would “a-lau.”
Jessica Lerner (Junior Sunbeam) Jessica, an 8th grader at Bonita Vista Middle School, has already had an extensive career in theater, appearing in several Lamb’s Players productions.
Cynthia N. Mayes (Fairy Godmother) It’s been eleven years since Cynthia appeared at the Playhouse as the wary, bedraggled Mrs. Manningham in Angel Street. She outfoxed that tyrant of a husband to emerge from the woodwork as our glamourous fairy Godmother, and we’re glad she’s back. A graduate in Theater Performance from Ohio University, Cynthia usually works her magic wand in corralling her two teenage sons, but she also lists stilt-walking and piano among her talents.
Nicola Moore (Pip) At the tender age of 7, Nicola is already a Shakespearean, having sung and danced in Coronado’s 1999 production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She has also attended Junior Theater Camp and studies Irish dancing, gymnastics and beginning piano.
JoJo Ramirez (Dandini) This talented singer-dancer is getting a little extra training for a fall-back position, as valet to a prince. Being indispensable is the number one priority for the job, and JoJo fills the bill with a strong background as a ball player in Damn Yankees for Christian Community Theater, a radical gay activist in C’est LaGuerre at Diversionary Theater, and a soloist in concerts at the Scottish Rite Auditorium in Los Angeles.
Chloe M. Slavinsky (Squeak) Nine-year-old Chloe is an earnest student of theater, working on singing and ballet and various “mouse” pursuits, such as learning to pull that great big pumpkin across the stage. She has also attended Junior Theater Camp.
Terrance Tenley (Plato Sizzle) Terry, a Navy Chief Petty Officer at North Island, often wondered what was going on at the Playhouse when he drove by. He stopped in one night, and now he’s an actor.
