Angels Among Us

Leigh Scarritt's Christmas musical, Angels Among Us, opens Thursday, November 30^th at 8 pm at the Coronado Playhouse, 1775 Strand Way in Coronado. The musical score, written by Scarritt, also features many favorite Christmas songs in a huge opening act with most of the fifty member cast on stage. The many children who share in this family Christmas show enhance the power of the music.

The cast, drawn both from professional actors and from the local community, shares a story of a young girl, Maggie, who dies in an accident on Christmas riding her new bike "just once around the block". It is the story of her discovery of a heaven filled with both those typical angelic presences of light and beauty which we all imagine, but also a heaven filled with a cast of angels which surprise us with their incongruity and humor. Maggie is allowed to visit her parents where her mother becomes aware of her angelic presence.

Maggie is the only natural child of her mother and father, but because of her parents' dedication the family includes a myriad of adopted children. The story is a love story - the love of parents for one another, the love of God, the love of family, and the love of the angelic Maggie for her family. It shows us new ways to see the meaning of family of faith, of afterlife, and of the true meaning of this season. The story is filled with beautiful music that sings, dances, whispers and shouts about strength of family, power of love and presence of spirit.

This moving family musical, Angels Among Us, will play from November 30^th through December 20th, Thursday through Saturday nights at 8:00 pm and Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 2:00 pm. The show will preview November 29th and November 30th. Midweek shows are at 8:00 pm on December 18 through December 20th. Adult tickets prices range from $12 - $20 and child (under the age of 12) tickets range from$6 to $10. Seniors, students and military have a $2 to $5 discount of the ticket price depending on the show. Reservations are recommended. Call the box office at 435-4856.
