Joshua Camp (Laertes) is pleased to make his debut performance with Coronado Playhouse and also his first foray into Shakespeare. A native of Northern California, Joshua has performed professionally with opera companies throughout the state. Joshua graduated from the University of California Santa Cruz with a BA in Politics. He studied classical voice for five years with tenor and stage director Brian Staufenbiel. Joshua most recently took the stage in the chorus of San Diego Opera’s much acclaimed production of Peter Grimes. Some of his favorite prior roles include Pontius Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar, The Father in Hänsel und Gretel, and Orgon in Tartuffe. Some of the companies Joshua has performed with include: Utah Festival Opera, Opera San José, Golden Gate Opera, West Bay Opera, Alameda Civic Light Opera, and Broadway by the Bay. When not appearing on stage Joshua works full time backstage at the Old Globe Theatre as a furniture builder in the properties department. Joshua has plied his carpentry skills at theatre companies across the United States, most recently with Alabama Shakespeare Festival. Through the course of his backstage career Joshua has been privileged to work on multiple world premier musicals, and with Tony-Award winning designers. Future engagements for Joshua include an upcoming recital with Soprano Robin Costa, with performances in San Jose and San Diego.
