D. Larry Steckling (Director) Larry is very happy to be back in the director’s chair for another Neil Simon comedy here at the Coronado Playhouse.  He is very familiar with Neil Simon’s work, having directed an Aubrey award winning production of Chapter Two for The Lamplighters in 1994, a successful production of Last of the Red Hot Lovers for Coronado Playhouse in 1997, and another hit with the musical, They’re Playing Our Song at Coronado Playhouse in 1999.  Last year, he had a huge hit with Rumors, which won many Coronado Playhouse honours, including Best Production of 2000.  Larry’s other directorial credits cover 30 busy years in the theatre and include such titles as Hello Dolly!, Kiss Me Kate, Move Over Mrs. Markham, Not Now Darling!, The Pleasure of His Company, The Women Summer and Smoke, The Philadelphia Story, Watch on the Rhine, The Matchmaker, 6 Rims Riv Vu, Ladies in Retirement, The Odd Couple-Female Version, and many more. As an actor, he has performed lead or featured roles in The Importance of Being Earnest, The Man Who Came To Dinner, Charley’s Aunt (Aubrey Award winner), and Murder at the Howard Johnson’s, as well as starring in his own one-man show, Wilde/Coward - celebrating the works of both Oscar Wilde and Noel Coward. Larry has also written two musicals with Gayle Dunne Davis, Fineweather and Piano Bar Blues.  He has also written a one-act play, Turn The Key that has had two San Diego productions and one in Richmond, Virginia.  When not working in the theatre, Larry is a freelance wedding and event coordinator, and Catering Director for Neimans Fine Dining of Carlsbad.  He also finds the time to be an acting coach at various locations and for various age groups.
Teena Correia (Assistant Director) Teena and her husband Marcus are old friends of the Coronado Playhouse, returning in 1999 after a 10 year absence that took them overseas. Their association with the Playhouse began when they co-sponsored the first of three off stage Halloween productions in 1987. Teena would like to thank Larry Steckling for the wonderful opportunity to work with him again. Her most recent efforts with the Playhouse include Taming of the Shrew, Murder at the Vicarage, Rumors, The Tempest, When Angels Appear, The Uninvited and Angels Among Us. Teena thanks her husband Marcus for all of his love and support. To Monty, God Bless You and may You rest in peace.
Beth Billstein (Producer) Beth is an insurance agent/broker by day. She made her producing debut here at the Coronado Playhouse two years ago with the world premier of Angels Among Us, and returned to produce Angels in it’s triumph return the following year, earlier last year she was assistant producer of another world premier La Jolla DNA. Beth is extremely pleased to be working with Larry again; she was assistant producer on his production of Rumors last year at the Playhouse. Beth serves on the board of the Coronado Playhouse as well as ACT and Teatro Mascara Magico. She would like to thank Fran for getting her involved with the Playhouse, Larry for introducing her to thrift stores, the cast and crew of California Suite for all of their hard work and her best buddy Michael “Bubba” Fendt.
Fran Palmer (Assistant Producer) Fran has been associated with theatre both on and off stage since college, mostly directing and producing. Her most recent successes were La Jolla DNA and the award winning Gospel of Colonus. Fran is the San Diego producer for Murder Mystery Players who perform weekly at David & Busters for both public and private shows. Fran also serves on two theatre boards, Coronado Playhouse and Teatro Mascara Magico. Fran says, theatre and real estate have a lot in common, “Success is in the details.”
Sharon Boskovich (Stage Manager and Hotel Housekeeper) Sharon is pleased to be joining this production of California Suite. She served as stage manager for Taming of the Shrew. The summer Shakespeare Festival at the Coronado Playhouse. Sharon’s previous experience in theatre includes acting classes at the Old Globe Theatre.
Rosemary King (Set Designer & Set Construction) Rosemary started painting scenery for OnStage Productions, now On Stage Playhouse in 1978 for the production of All the Way Home. She has participated in the painting, construction, designing of sets for Scripps Ranch Community Theatre, Clairmont Players, OSP, Poway and Coronado Playhouse. I was taken out of my art class way back in high school to help with the backdrops at the Junior College Theatre.  Her credits include King Richard the Third, Harold, A Walk in the Woods, It’s Only a Play, To Kill a Mockingbird, Pinocchio and many more. Rosemary says… “This is a work of love and will continue to do what I can for as long as I can.”
Thom Jason Waldman (Set Design & Set Dresser) Thom was set designer, set dresser and technical director on the Playhouse’s summer production of Taming of the Shrew. Prior to Shrew he appeared in M*A*S*H as Father Mulcahy and in Angels Among Us as Carmichael. He has designed sets for Angels Among Us, Murder at the Vicarage, Pump Boys and Dinettes, and M*A*S*H at Coronado Playhouse and has worked throughout the San Diego area at numerous other theatres. As always, none of this would have been half the fun or half as special without his better half, David, who after 20 years still amazes Thom.
Cookie Turner (Set Design & Set Construction) Cookie is new to San Diego. She and her boyfriend Mark moved to Coronado in May from the Bay area. Cookie is originally from Virginia. She was an Elementary and Middle School art teacher. She also designed and painted sets and scenery with her students for many productions. She enjoys watching football, traveling, music and meeting new people. Cookie is happy to have been asked to share her talents with the Playhouse.
